Peggy's Story*

The most heartbreaking thing for a grandmother to hear from her grandchildren is that she isn’t fun any more. Unfortunately, this is what Peggy’s granddaughter told her after an injury at work caused Peggy to develop chronic pain. Peggy says that hearing this “just about killed her,” and she became very depressed.

Peggy didn’t know what to do. She couldn’t work or drive, much less spend time with her granddaughter. Peggy tried surgery, physical therapy, epidurals, and medication in an attempt to find relief for her pain, but nothing worked. She recalls, “I just sat around in bed. I had no quality of life.”

When her doctor told her about neurostimulation, Peggy was “very, very interested.” She decided to try it and is thrilled with the results. She can take walks, visit people, and sit through a church service. She has significantly reduced her medications, and she feels like she has her life back.

Most importantly, Peggy has restored her relationships with her friends and family. Peggy explains that she no longer feels depressed or like a hindrance to her loved ones. Instead, she has become “a social person,” and she enjoys visiting people. Peggy is excited to be a “fun grandma” again, and she wants to tell others considering neurostimulation that “it gave me my life back. It’s worked wonderfully.”
