Your MTS® SystemYour MTS® system lets you try SCS therapy before you have an SCS system permanently implanted. It works by delivering low-intensity electrical impulses to selected nerve fibers. This may replace areas of pain with a tingling or massaging sensation called paresthesia. Your MTS system consists of these components: Stimulator—The stimulator is a small, battery-powered external device, which generates the electrical impulses and sends them back to the lead(s). Lead—The lead (or leads) is a thin cable with metal electrodes that is implanted in the space along the spinal cord or a selected nerve. The lead delivers electrical impulses to the targeted area of the spinal cord. Trial Cable—The trial cable (or cables) connects the lead to the IPG.
